  • 505 Midewin Wauponsee Trailhead

Midewin’s newest trailhead was created in partnership with the Forest Preserve District of Will County.  The trailhead features vehicle and equestrian parking, a latrine and a picnic table. This trailhead gives visitors access to the Waubonsee Glacial Trail.  This is part of the Forest Preserve District and stretches 22.29 miles from Joliet to the Kankakee River in Custer Park. The new trailhead is located south of Manhattan on Hoff Road. A short distance from the trailhead, Waubonsee Glacial Trail intersects with a path that leads into the 19,000-acre Midewin site.

This trailhead also gives access to the following trails at Midewin:

    ·         Twin Oaks Trail

    ·         Old Chicago Road

    ·         Turtle Pond (picnic area)

    ·         Chicago Road Seedbed, (native Illinois seeds)
