    COMMON NAMES: White Blue-eyed Grass, Common Blue-eyed Grass

    BLOOM TIME: May, June

    PLANT PROFILE:

    • Member of Iris family.
    • Up to 1 ft. tall.
    • Habitat: prairies, savannahs & wooded meadows.
    • Has linear leaves & ½ in. flowers.
    • Flowers have 6 white petals with yellow stamen that rise from the top of the stem.
    • Flowers open in late morning to mid-afternoon on sunny days closed when overcast & cold.

    INSECT/ANIMAL INTERACTIONS:

    • Various kinds of bees & flower flies visit the flowers for nectar or pollen.
