PLANT PROFILE:
- This ornamental rush is sometimes planted in wetland gardens.
- Central stem terminates in a flower about 1-4 in. across, sometimes branched together; each has a 5mm floret from green to brown
- Habitat: full sun & wet conditions with mucky, sandy soil.
- Common in southern Illinois & occasional in northern. Found along ponds, ditches & river banks.
- Robust bush can even tolerate drought.
