PLANT PROFILE:
- Slender 5’ tall with sticky hairs near top.
- Sticky haired bright crimson flowers,
- Called catchfly because insects get stuck on the stems.
- Rare endangered Illinois plant.
INSECT/ANIMAL INTERACTIONS:
- Nectar of the flowers attracts larger butterflies, such as Black Swallowtails.
- Nectar attracts the Ruby-Throated Hummingbird.
