    COMMON NAME: Royal Catchfly

    PLANT PROFILE:

    • Slender 5’ tall with sticky hairs near top.
    • Sticky haired bright crimson flowers,
    • Called catchfly because insects get stuck on the stems.
    • Rare endangered Illinois plant.

    INSECT/ANIMAL INTERACTIONS:

    • Nectar of the flowers attracts larger butterflies, such as Black Swallowtails.
    • Nectar attracts the Ruby-Throated Hummingbird.
