    COMMON NAMES: Tall Coreopsis, Tall Tickseed, Golden Crown, Atlantic Tickseed

    BLOOM TIME: July, Aug, Sept, Oct

    PLANT PROFILE:

    • Tall stems can be up to 8 ft., but usually shorter.
    • Delicate looking slim stalks and leaves.
    • Yellow flowers are at top of stalks.
    • Flowerheads have a slight anise fragrance.
    • Habitat prairies & dry woods.
    • Common in Illinois.
    • Mesquakies boiled plant for a drink to treat internal pains & bleeding.

    INSECT/ANIMAL INTERACTIONS:

    • The nectar & pollen of the flowerheads attract a variety of insects.
